The debut album ‘Beethoven Piano Sonatas’ of the young Dutch pianists Arthur (14) and Lucas (17) Jussen has reached the platinum status. Yesterday night the piano brothers were handed a platinum award by presenter Matthijs van Nieuwkerk and author Adriaan van Dis, in the Dutch television show ‘De Wereld Draait Door’. In April 2010, the debut album, dedicated to piano sonatas by Beethoven, was released by the renowned Deutsche Grammophon label.

In the autumn of 2011, Deutsche Grammophon will release another album of the Jussens.

Recently, the young pianists visited London for a very successful performance of the concerto for two pianos from Mozart in Cadogan Hall. The orchestral accompaniment was in the hands of the London Chamber Orchestra, directed by Christopher Warren Green.

Next year concerts by Lucas Jussen have been scheduled, among others, in the Amsterdam Concertgebouw, Vredenburg Leidsche Rijn in Utrecht, and in De Oosterpoort in Groningen. The programme will include the well-known Piano Concerto No. 2 by Rachmaninov. He will be accompanied by the Noord Nederlands Orkest under the direction of Michel Tabachnik.
