The Concertgebouw Young Talent Award consists of an art work, a €5,000 grant, and the Concertgebouw’s active commitment to lead the laureates to the major European concert halls, for example in the well-known Rising Stars series.
Since January 2011, the Concertgebouw and Deutsche Bank have entered into an exclusive partnership for a term of at least 5 years. This partnership especially focuses on the activities the Concertgebouw is developing in the field of education and participation; one of its spearheads being the development of young talent, including by establishing this Concertgebouw Young Talent Award. The award will be presented by Maarten van Berckel, Chief Country Officer Nederland of Deutsche Bank.
Arthur and Lucas Jussen have very successfully been performing in the Small and Large Hall of the Concertgebouw since they were still very young. And their star is still rising: their debut CD with Deutsche Grammophon has beaten all commercial successes, and also abroad the duo is getting more and more renowned. By awarding the Concertgebouw Young Talent Award, the Concertgebouw hopes to support the development of their international career.
Simon Reinink, Managing Director of Het Concertgebouw NV:
Lucas and Arthur Jussen are blessed with a unique talent. The pianists are firmly rooted in the classical tradition, and feed their enthusiasm by cooperating with leading fellow musicians and teachers. Meanwhile they have a very contemporary way of expressing classical music, inspiring both the existing and a completely new audience.
Maarten van Berckel, Chief Country Officer Nederland of Deutsche Bank AG:
The Jussen brothers have managed to connect to a whole new generation of music lovers, presenting themselves as true ambassadors for classical music. Arousing people’s enthusiasm for classical music is exactly what the cooperation between the Concertgebouw and Deutsche Bank advocates. That is why they perfectly fit in the development of young talent our partnership is aiming at.
